After miles of beautiful farmland, we stopped at a river-side park in a small village to cook dinner. Frogs, cicadas, and crickets were our orchestra and Shasta had a grand time romping in the mud flats of the river. Happy Birthday to Sarah’s sister, Kelly!
Joe wanted to get more miles behind us, so with a prayer to keep the deer off the road, we pushed east into the dark. Shasta dozed off first and Sarah crawled into the bed beside him around 11 pm. A few hours later, Joe pulled into Wayne and found the ONLY parking lot where workers report for morning construction at 5:49 am local time!!! Can you guess which parking lot we were in?
It’s a pure guess but how about the Home Depot parking lot in Wayne, Nebraska? BTW, young Andrew Richmond suggested that I should have hidden a GPS tracker on Mike so we could keep tabs on you… I think he’s going to be an interesting teenager! Safe travels.
How appropriate to listen to Bob Seger, but Turn the Page would better have described your night drive. “on a long and lonesome highway, east of Omaha.” Nice job making up for lost time in Cheyenne.
